English: In a typical ADSL arrangement, there is a Network Interface Device in the customer’s premises (right), combined with a splitter, which separates the 0–4000 Hz band used by POTS and the data signal used by the ADSL modem with a computer attached to it.
Connected by a telephone line is the other end (left) is the central office, where a corresponding splitter divides the signal between the voice switch and a Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM).
